The below chart is a list of write in votes. There were over 80 votes which were unranked so we had to discount them.
10 points were given for a ranking of One, 9 points for a ranking of two and so on.
The list is in order of ranking.

10	please correct how photos are to be zoomed/panned/scanned, meaning ease in/out where the photo can accelerate/decelerate w/o the funky snake like motion. simply put, i want my photo to start up, the slow down without the "s" like motion. i find it ridiculous that a $999 application can't do this simple task! important for people who work w/ a lot of photos instead of purchasing $200 for stagetools moving picture.
10	Do anything you can to 'fix' FINISHING PROJECTS in FCP: rocksolid reliable output to tape (let fcp take over my mac if need be and create it's own perfect layoff enviornment - or what MIGHT be.) reliable up-res. make more 'solid' for offline to online conversions. not simplified per se - but SOLID. finishing in FCP is the BIGGEST problem with fcp imho.
10	DVD Chapter Markers are buggy and should be editable by clicking on the Marker.
10	Force-apply transition effects. A dissolve where I want it without fiddling with lengthening handles...YOU'RE the computer, YOU do the required math. If I hate it, I'll Command Z it. But make transitions stick to where I drage 'em everytime.
10	Capture and display clip timestamps, as in iMovie.
10	STABILITY! Improve reliability of Save project, so that saves take place every time.
10	How about a 3D DVE effect and some of the Shake compositing features rolled into FCP 5. And separately, it would be great to finally have an NLE that has the capability to really mix audio. That is, with a simple button click the video editing features would be disabled and an audio mixing and editing workstation would appear with EXTERNAL device control over faders from like JL Cooper or Tascam.

10	Program should not create multiple folders for storage of clips

10	The ability to put a selected amount of transitions in a bin (similar to the favorites) and then set that bin as the default transition bin. When overwriting multiple clips by dragging them from the bin to the canvas to "overwrite with transition" each of the transitions in the bin will be used in repeating and alternating order.
10	MXF and full AAF support. This will be a big factor in broadcast and high-end applications.
10	SDI DUAL LINK HD 4:4:4 capture and RT as long as HD D.L. boards from AJA and Aurora come out

I would also like a way to WITHOUT MEDIA MANAGER clip clips into multiple clips and DELETE unused segments of such from hadr drive [obviously FC would want to scan and see if you are dumb enough to be deleting stuff you are usiung...and even if you were it would just become OFFLINEMEDIA.... Also ENCOURAGE capture of WHOLE TAPES [and auto clip them like iMovie [with option to join adjacent clips]
10	When using the fade between segments effect, make it easier and more accurate to use like Adobe Premiere. Presently in FCP, you get those annoying scene jumping glitches as FCP tries to include footage beyond the start point that you selected. Sorry, I don't know what the popular term really is. Thanks.
10	(similar to sap) I want to be able to encode from .xxx files into dv footage so my entire project is a video representation that can be brought back in anytime at its original state. Multiple dv tape output is possible for a larger project. (represented here @ http://ryhnio.spymac.net/)

10	Stability - namely upgrading Projects from 4.1 to 4.5 is hit or miss. Most of the time, this causes beach balls of death when editing in the timeline. The quality of scaling is pathetic. Media Management is still a work in progress. After this many years, it should be rock solid and more capable.
10	Delta v. Display a waveform or colour range representing the rate of change between frames in the footage being edited. No change means boredom. small change means some one moving. Max change means camera fast pan or excess shake. This would make it fast to find dud scenes & those blurry pans between good shots without watching in real time. Very well who has times the solution of the 50 (Hz) cycles per second of problem Final CUT in the European Union. Because without that no hp can be played liquid here off and be operated Final CUT are so also to useless. German originals text Da ich Englisch nicht so gut behersche habe ich es in Deutsch geschreibe und dann mit Sherlok überstetz. Ich hoffe ihr könnt das dann auch gut lesen. Sehr gut wer mal die Lösung des 50 HZ Problems das Final Cut in der EU hat. Denn ohne den können keine HD flüßig hier ab gespielt werden und Final Cut ist so mit zum arbeiten unbrauchbar.

10	Log in freedom , like in Avid systems when you log in , it goes to your settings , in a working enviroment when you have multiple users you want the system to recognize different people so that everyone has their own files.
10	Roll Cinema Tools features into FCP. We need to have all metadata inside FCP, it is no good having the Keycodes and Labrolls etc in another app which has very limited links. Then make all this data displayable in the Timecode fields to correspond to the current selected clip. There is no reason to keep CT as a separate app.
10	Media Management, Media Management, Media Management, Media Management... Why is this not even listed as a feature request. This whole area needs a complete overhaul. EVERYBODY who uses this app agrees the FCP media Management is an after thought. It should be one of the most powerful features of any application working with large amounts of data. Shared Project support with XSan Shared Media Support Project History and usage Fix Re-Link, this should be an automatic process when a project is opened. Clip data modify commands should be top priority also Consolidate or transcode Project centric media viewer - Ability to call up into single, searchable, siftable browser list Strict capture saving locations RE-LINK, RE-LINK, RE-LINK, RE-LINK
10	I would like to see support for the Sony MPEG IMX format, widely used in Europe and Asia in the broadcast industri, if Apple is going to have any impact in Europe and Asia this is a need to have feature
10	Reclaim the pre 4.5 feature: - ctrl+v slices THE SELECTED segment(s) - if no segment is selected the auto select chooses which segments to slice.

10	Something to overcome the XL1's sync issues... maybe a mode to cap both video and audio in one pass, but at the same time does the necessary sr convert to keep everything in sync.
10	Quick access to full screen viewing of canvas and viewer windows.
10	1) Custom transitions--not just limited to start, ctr, end. 2) Smart rendering that keeps unmodified layers rendered after a change to another layer. 3) A timeline scroller that only adusts from ONE side, not both. Too much going on there! 4) Real-time video scopes.
10	Interface look : use more of Mac OS X's standard interface objects like buttons, pop-up menus, menu bars, window borders... It would be great if all Apple PRO application would have similar interface look !
10	The ability to edit MPEG2 files
10	Browser Behavior: Make it more like the best of Apple's Finder and a spreadsheet database. 1) If a clip is highlighted and you press 'Enter' you should be able to change the clip name. 2) If you are entering data in one column, 'tab' should take to the next column. 3) If data is too long to fit in a column, it should wrap to another line (this should be an option to turn on or off)
10	#1 More simplied compression to DVD and CD formats. #2 Ability to review production in the canvas without distortion at any percentage.
10	Make audio only easier to drop onto timeline. Perhaps like Premiere where there are picture and audio icons that you can click ON and OFF.
10	Interface: Install foot/frame mode for duration and position readers. This feature would finalize 24fps capabilities of the application!
10	Reconnect with reference to reel number and timecode, rather than file name.
10	Most editors I know starts by making selections into sequences, and then edit from those sequences into the main sequence. There should be an option where sequences edited into sequences aren't automatically becoming nested items. There should also be an option where you could change a nested item to refer directly back to the masterclip instead of the sequence.
10	I would like to be able to put markers on a clip while it is being captured(either in batch or capture now)
10	1. Ability to tab select all open bins. 2. Large timecode display 3. Ability to stay off the mouse for all edit functions 4. Ability to apply same transition to mutiple clips
10	Media Manager bugs need to be fixed in order to preserve the integrity of edits which contain speed and time-remapping effects. This has never worked properly in all previous versions, including FCP HD 4.5, which causes inaccurate in-out points and adds extraneous time-remapping keyframes in the newly created offline project. These bugs have been replicated in 3 separate computer configurations.
10	The Ability to UN-nest nested comps. You can nest them easy enough, but it should work more like a folder and you change things in the nested comp and they are reflected, but then you unnest whenever you want to and you can start working with it again in the timeline.
10	Being able to cut one sequence into another without it losing original and modified timecode. this would be a helpful tool for music video editors. i know a lot of music video editors coming from avid that are very confused about this issue when they buy FCP.
10	Replace Media, keeping in tact all the attributes, keyframes, duration etc.
10	Markers that work like Media Composer, so you can view/read them in a window and navigate to them from that window.
10	In effects, in the text drop down window, have the various font examples be in the fonts themselves.
10	Medi Management - Every media imported in FCP should create media itself so that import from any format like cd, DVD, floppy etc can be managed easily by FCP like in AVID. Cinema Tools - We have to add database for creating cutlist should be entered in FCP browser itself rather than in cinema tools, so that media integration is good. 10	Importing and exporting STL subtitle files and streamlining subtitling workflow to DVD studio Pro
10	Free-form desktop option: like on Quantel and smoke: instead of only one Viewer window, the option to open multiple Viewer windows simultaneously (that can show multiple clips) and set in and out points for the clips in those Viewer windows. This gives a lot of power and speed to storyboard editing. There would still be only one Canvas window.
10	Better Audio Filters. Period. Or support for RTAS filters. I mean COME ON, people.
10	A slow motion effect that "tweens" much like RE: Vision's Twixtor, instead of the frame doubling used to get slo mo now.
10	The ability to slo-mo or speed-up a shot and have it maintain the existing shot duration in the sequence - thus avoiding the need to cut & paste to another sequence or lock ALL tracks to avoid sync issues.
10	I would like to see a self contained project folder. When you open a new Project, FCP will create a Folder with all the render files, project files, everything all in that folder. I would like that folder to be portable. Imagine starting your project out in the field, returning home and in one step transfer everything to your Dual G5.
10	When an item in the browser window has been placed in a sequence, change its color or put a check by it. . .something, anything to let you know it's been used.
10	1. Add a motion effect that blends frames SUPER SMOOTHLY for a SUPER SLOMO when speed is reduced down below 50%. 2. Add BETTER MEDIA MANAGEMENT tools.
10	Stability. Also, saving after every command like Edition does would be neat. Range check / white frames on export should be gotten rid of. Audio and video playing out through firewire should be changed as most newbie users experience problems with that (there's no video/audio in the canvas and they don't realize its going out through firewire).
10	Ability to group/ungroup clips and lock/unlock position of clips on the timeline--and color code/name them. This way you can re-order scenes or sequences or keep certain clips stuck to a specific timecode.
10	Give us a mini-photoshop app. just like livetype or soundtrack. Give us yuv photoshop filters and adjustments such as auto contrast.
10	Strengthen the refresh AV Device feature...have the mac force quit a firewire connection and reconnect without relaunching or restarting. Let user select connected firewire device to target in FCP (similar to targeting capture disc) and remember those settings until user wants them changed.
10	Develop soundtrack into a powerful Pro Tools like audio suite. Provide a thumbnail picture track to mix to. Provide easy export and import to FC Pro.
10	Make zoom scale smoother when at full-zoom end of the scale
10	Add transitions on any track, with or without alphas being used and see no level changes or alpha channels lighten when in the middle of transition.
10	A Select from Here command-Selects everything downstream of the playhead in all tracks. A log and capture station version-The ability to setup a client or PA friendly digitize or Logging station. A large audio waveform mode-Only shows the top half of the wave form 4 times larger that fills the bar. Not having the timeline snap back to the place you moved a clip from after you move it in the timeline. Ability to turn audio waveforms on and off with contextual menu on a per track or clip basis. Ability to see output status like timeline TC when Printing to video so you know where you are in the program. Ability to drag video or audio tracks from viewer to timeline selectivly ie: video only or Video and Ch.1 only, etc.
10	Some indicator in the Broweser that a file or subclip is in use on a timeline and how many times any part of it is being used.

10	FCP that I can use on my Dell Workstation.
10	FCP to Shake 3.5 integration (and back to FCP)
10	Stand-alone DV logging library. It should scan tapes, keeping a log of each clip with thumbnail. It should be keyword searchable and browsable like iPhoto. Logs should be printable reel by reel on plain paper for binder storage and archiving. FCP opens library, clips are chosen, a capture batch is prepared by reel number, then the tapes are inserted for capture. How about "iClips." Aloha, Rusty Wright, tvdudehi@cs.com

10	Node based effects system a la Shake, w/ concatenation of effects for quality etc etc. (Would also allow direct interface with Shake if installed.) Clarifies clip relationships, Source goes in at the top level node, then we get effects clips out at the end. Even have these 'effected' clips show up as separate clips in the bin.
10	A warning before deleting a clip or a sequence from the browser!

10	Animation- more precise sub pixel approximation, 1/10,000 px or more for improved graphics CC- curves, please Brian M, give us curves to help us interpret our client's color needs (and this GUI looks soo sexy, sure to wow any skeptics) Digitize- how about radio buttons for user clip labels in the logging tab, with option to reset for each clip or extend through a set of clips. Digitize-rethink the "set logging bin", this is a barrier for newbies, bound to trip them up FW output- rethink the format output, 16x9 to 4x3, instead of no signal out to FW, why not just send out the distorted signal, and let the editor sort it out later? This is a source of confusion for all. Scripting - Applescript or Javascript would enhance FCP's utility in production environments. 10	It would be nice to have the mouse capable of morphing between to tools in the timeline - one for audio (eg, arrow) and one for video (eg, ripple). Or something similar to the multi-tool available in the latest version of Protools which changes the function of your mouse depending on where it is sitting over the media region in the timeline. It would be really nice if the user could customize this option as well.
10	photoshop like tools for the effects generators. Draw on screen w/ keyframes. Bezier tools, polygons, lines, circles...
10	render file names that are unique across drives, thereby making it easier to consolidate them.
10	Integration with Logic.
10	for cinema tools: inverse telecine on all mediafiles (mpg, mpeg2, mov, avi etc.) with automatic checking which is the right option for a removel (24fps - flicker prioritized, 24fps - motion prioritized, 24fps - non interlaced source, 30fps - flicker prioritized, 60fps - simple, 60fps - 24/30fps mixed source). also more option for manual choosing of fixing a ivtc (both option can be found in tmpgenc on windows). (rank #2) cinema tools engine should be availble in compressor for inverse telecine with upper options. (rank #4) compressor: mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg4 (h.264) encoding with option to 1-pass, 2-pass and more-pass encoding. (rank #3) compressor: automatic adding of letterbox bars on top and bottom of clips if necessary so encoded clips don't look streched. (rank #8)
10	add a column in the browser which displays if the clip is cut into a sequence or not.
10	extend the maximum sequence length from 4 hours to 24 hours.
10	a smart-dB target mode: specify a target decibel level and, once applied, selected tracks will have their levels either raised or lowered to reach that target.
10	Loss of render files due to track deselection is still a major hinderance
10	When you select 'in' and 'out' points: Make it so that if you hit delete, it DELETES that section, instead of (for example) a clip that is still highlighted from a previous edit. When in and out are selected, there is a reason for it. Thanks!
10	Ability to cut, trim and make "sub-files" of allready-caprtured quicktime files
10	Support for OMF importing of Audio sequences from Logic, or DP 4, we can export to them, but can't bring audio back in, which if the client then asks for just one more change or added clip, ruins the stereo pair we imported, but OMF import would allow us to then make simple changes in FCP. Also similar to one in Audio section, but just to clarify, support for Control surfaces like the Logic Control and or Mackie Control or others, so we can use a real mixer interface for fast audio mixing... can be midi or USB....

10	Cut down playhead lag. Stop playhead as soon as I hit the stop button. Currently on 1.8 G5 playhead continues for at least 10-15 frames after I hit stop.
10	Zoom to playhead wherever it is ...even if it is offscreen!
10	The ability to lasso or select a transition on the timeline and trim while seeing the A and B side from layered video tracks. (i.e. A side=track 2 and B side=track 1) This is the ONLY item that keeps me using Avid. Also bigger auto-select buttons. Thanks!

10	Frame-accurate timeline timecode out to tape via firewire (that we had in FCP 3), to enable DVCAM mastering.
10	Role Cinema Tools database inside FCP, and the List features. No reason not to have this all tied together in one, always available browser database inside FCP. Therefore all film metadata is imediatly accesible in FCP for clips I am working with. Make it possible to view ALL clip data together (unlike CT 'feature' of only allowing a few column's of info at a time. More, More options for film lists. Greater understanding of Film List needs - do your research please. Frame-Based data tracking for VFX shots with numbered frames and have this go into the cut lists. 25 to 24 Tool to become an automatic 'on capture' process rather than choosing it from a menu. Make some effort with all these film features and go deeper than other tools and then Hollywood might start to take notice. FCP IS NOT a film editing package, it merely scratches the surface of what's needed every day on a feature film edit.
10	Abitlty to read/decode SIMPTE time code from a selected audio track and recode the related QT time code to match.

10	Auto-justify text in the character generator. Just improve the text generator period.
9	Please make it an option so that a speed change on a clip does NOT affect the dynamics of the sequence. I just because I expand a clip by double, doesn't necessarily mean I want to push my whole sequence down (or pull it back) that amount.

9	Intergrate Apak into Compressor, make it easier to make a DVD in 1 step! No more exporting the audio, rendering in Apak, then Sending Video to Compressor, lets do AC3 and MP2 in one easy step! ALSO need a way to Select all Chapter Markers and move them. if you Have Chapter markers for DSP but then realize you need to add a 30 second head, now all your chapter markers are 30 seconds behind and there is no easy way to fix this!!!!!!

9	Visual que on clips in the Browser that say, "I'm in the Timeline", "I've been used in this sequence".
9	Allow the user to choose whether to import .psd files as sequences (as now) or as graphic clips (as with other graphic formats).
9	Open in Editor command on a clip opens the whole source video file in the editor (combustion, after effect, etc). It would be much better if it would set the in and out of the clip and create a reference QT movie of the soruce so that when it opens in the external editor, you don't have to set the in/out again.
9	Subclipping in/ouit on timeline in any sequence - drop that subclip into another seq Avid style and NOT as a nested clip - pro's need full access to every clip - video and audio - Avid does this better than anyone else - FCP needs this.
9	When I update a media file in another application, I don't want FCP to lose 'connection' with that file and require me to reconnect. In other words, I want it to play better in multi user environments and with other applications, not just LiveType/Motion etc. Really hammer media management and group editing environments with version 5 :) Don't produce 'copies' of sequences when I copy and paste them into a new sequence, create a reference. I want to have multiple users working on an edit, each updating a sequence, and that being reflected in a master project...

1	Somewhere in the prefs, I should be able to set up which of my disks that are fast enough for my type of work. I always work in 10 bit uncompressed SDI (PAL), decklink codec. Often I import stuff from other disks or servers, and forget to move them to the fast SAN we use. FCP oftenb manage to play these clips, even from servers. But when the server or disk is offline, I loose my material. When importing files, FCP should check this list, and if I'm trying to import from something off the list, it should tell me and give me an option to 1) Cancel, 2) Go ahead anyway or 3) (Default) Copy material to my projects schratch disk folder and then import. This would save me tons of time every day! My #2 rated feature wish. My #3 wish: Make a prefs that makes it impossible to enter a new tape without naming it. "001" is not a cool number. All our tapes has an archives number, and users should be forced in some nice way to enter these, like the Avid Media Composer does.

So when you do F9/F10 and then zoom in to see what you've done you don't end up zooming Canvas like now. 8. Toggle-able source timeline. 9. Up-down arrows should stop at head and tail or just heads or just tails. 10. Field/frame freeze so this whole jitter at freeze in PAL is eliminated. And "interpret fields" feature for sequences. 11. Effects. Paste effect should replace like effect not add one more of the same. Or this behaviour could be switchable. 1	I forgot this one. What I would like is a cloning brush to quickly and easily remove neg dirt and other blemishes that appear for only 1 frame. Not just a brush that can clone from 1 area to another but from 1 frame to another. If I had a clone tool for FCP that worked like AE6.5 I would be in heaven.
1	Apple, please fix all the remaining problems with media manager, audio nesting, and clip speed changes. It really isn't funny anymore. I don't really want any new features that badly -- I'm really happy with the features of 4.5, especially now that Motion is available and I don't have to try to use it for compositing. I just want fewer bugs. Actually, at version 4.5, I want no major bugs at all.
