Agenda: (Not in order and subject to change)
- RED Workflow with Avid Media Composer 5: - Max Burgess, SpliceTV, London and Michael Krulik, Avid
Max Burgess, Offline/Online Editor at SpliceTV, one of the leading creative editors in London will showcase some incredible work edited on Media Composer and shot with the RED Digital Cinema camera; Max will demonstrate some of the new features in Media Composer 5 and how these can benefit any editor on any platform; Avid will in turn demonstrate complete integrated workflow with Final Cut Pro.
About Michael Krulik
Avid Principal Applications Specialist Los Angeles, CA
Michael started working with and presenting non-linear technology in the early days with the first PC editing system called EMC (Editing Machines Corporation). We were capturing baseband video into Magneto-Optical disks and the resulting video was captured at such a low resolution, you could only use the software for offline editorial decisions. You could not even see if someone was blinking their eyes. As Non-linear technology evolved, he used and demonstrated Media 100, Panasonic’s PostBox, Softimage DS and, of course, Avid.
For over 18 years, Michael has worked with the editors, directors, producers and visual effects teams in the Film, Television and Broadcast industry and has devoted most of his career to working with manufacturers of technology and evangelizing their tools.
Technology has come a long way since he would carry his punch cards down to the mainframe computer to run his program.
About Max Burgess
Editor and Graphic Artist, London, UK
After deciding editing was boring during his formative years at college, (often getting other students to edit his work) it was somewhat ironic that he would go on to forge a career as an editor once he finished his education. 12 years on and with 10 years experience in front of an Avid Media Composer and Apple Final Cut Pro as well as 4 years in front of an Avid DS, Max Burgess has a professional split personality. As Senior Editor at Box Television (a joint venture based in the UK between Channel 4 and Bauer Media) Max uses Avid DS to finish long form programming as well as graphic heavy promos for various channels. At home with his own Media Composer edit suite Max has forged strong relationships with some of the best up and coming music video and commercial directors as he works with them to craft their projects into award winning work.

About Andrei Nazarov
Andrei Nazarov finally focused on video editing in 1998 with the Media100 system. In 1999 when FCP was introduced, it was offered to me by local Apple IMC for presentation purposes and I fell in love. At the end of 1999 I was offered a job on 1st nation tv channel production company VID. With VID, I think I was first in the world to cut a multi million dollar budget show ("posledny geroi" aka Survivor" aka "Expedition Robinson") entirely on FCP. After that I decided to go into the feature film industry. I joined independent film production and postproduction studio j.I.n.a. film and did 2 features as sound director and some documentary work. Also I did music videos for Russian artists. Some of my clients are well-known Russian artists like B2, Basta, Gorod312, etc. Earlier this year I finished "the "Target" feature, where I recorded sound on set and edited an assembled DI. On editing I collaborated with Mr. Neil Farrell who is quite an experienced editor from England, known for his work with Kenneth Branagh, and some major features. Currently I'm editor and DI supervisor on the feature film "The Date" by production company Kinobuerau, directed by Youssup Bahshiev.
Some of my work has won Russian national tv awards.
I'm a member of mfcpug.
