Agenda

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join FCP Gurus Andrew Balis, Larry Jordan, Victor Maldonado and Brian Gary, as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCP. If they can't solve your problem or answer your How 2, then you go home with a problem but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:20PM - 7:35PM - 'Tip/Trick of the Month' -Color - Andrew Balis
In this tip/trick, Andrew Balis will show some of the cool functionality of working with keyframes to animate effects in Color. Whether you want a color to change from one hue to another, go from low to high contrast, make a scene look like its getting cooler or darker, go from color to black and white, or any type of animated effect, its done using Color's very intuitive approach to working with keyframes. The demo will feature how to add, modify and trouble-shoot working with keyframes as well as show a couple un-documented tips that make modifying keyframes very efficient and fun. These topics are pulled from Ripple Training's upcoming DVD tutorial "Color Grading in Color" hosted by Andrew Balis.

7:40PM - 8:15PM - Color 101- Neil Smith, Yasu Tsuji, Aaron Peak
Neil Smith, Yasu Tsuji and Aaron Peak from Hollywood-DI will be covering:

Everything you ever wanted to know about Apple COLOR but were afraid to ask:

- how to best set up your timeline in FCP 6 to avoid pain and hardship later
- do you really want to touch that 3-way color corrector?
- exporting out of FCP into COLOR (and when to use XML)
- overview of COLOR interface and controls ... all very intuitive (no, really)
- setting up parameters and options for a successful grading experience
- the eight ROOMs and what you typically do in them
- saving and applying grades
- difference between primary and secondary grading - when to use each
- basic use of scopes and color calibration issues
- using the ColorFX room to quickly get a look you want
- exporting back to FCP and screening the finished clips

They will be illustrating a typical grading workflow with some scenes shot from a Mercedes commercial with a Viper camera.

This demo will be very much a 'view from the helicopter' .... lots more detail will be covered in the three COLOR 101 seminars being run by our sister company RPMpost.

A special seminar discount will be available to all LFCPUG members who attend the meeting .... secret password required.

RPMpost will also be donating a free COLOR 101 training seminar to the LAFCPUG raffle!

8:20PM - 8:35PM - iCan Festival de Cine - Students from SFETT
Students from San Fernando High School's San Fernando Education Technology Team, (SFETT) return for their annual visit to lafcpug to talk briefly and show a trailer for the upcoming iCan Film Festival which will take place Saturday, August 4 2007 at the Library Plaza in San Fernando. For those of you who don't know about SFETT you should check it out HERE. It's a great, as well as inspirational story. NOTE: These kids can use your help. They are looking for someone or company to underwrite the cost of renting a large screen and projector for the event, August 4. The entire city of San Fernando comes out to support these kids and the iCan film festival is a BIG deal to the community. The projector and screen need to be large enough and bright enough to be seen by about 300 -400 people. If you can help, write me and I'll get you in touch with SFETT.

8:35PM - 8:55PM - Break
This is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved. The kids from SFETT will be in the lobby selling T-shirts. Dulce Systems will be there too. Lots of FCP Gurus come to lafcpug meetings and ths is your chance to network and make contacts and get your problems solved. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.
