Legends
of the Digital Video Revolution Night
Join us as Final Cut
Pro creator Randy
Ubillos returns
to lafcpug after a long absence to show off his latest creation,
iMovie
08. Huh? Yep.
Despite what you have read about it, let's have a look at it
and then decide. And who better to show it off then the creator
himself. Also scheduled to appear will be Christoph
Vonrhein from CHV
plug-ins who will show you how to create your own plug-ins
within a matter of minutes. Also Philip Hodgetts of the
Digital Production
Buzz will talk briefly about "Preparing for Online Distribution."
Plus a FCP Tip/trick of the Month
from Josh Mellicker of DVCreators,
another round of Stump The Gurus, Show and Tells, World
Famous raffle and MORE.
Agenda
6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join FCP Gurus Andrew
Balis, Philip
Hodgetts and Josh
Mellicker as they will attempt to answer all of your questions
and solve all of your problems concerning FCP. If they can't
solve your problem or answer your How 2, then you go home with
a problem but you still got out of the house, so that's not a
bad thing.
7:20PM - 7:45PM - 'FCP Tip/Trick of
the Month - Josh Mellicker
DVCreators.net's
Josh Mellicker returns to lafcpug after a long absense for
this month's FCP Tip/trick. Josh was one of the early pioneers
in the Final Cut World, and via the now legendary FCP
PowerStart training DVD got thousands of folks started and
learning Final Cut Pro .
This from Josh, the King of hype:
"After 7 years of great lafcpug
meetings, and with 1,000,000 FCP websites, books and DVDs on
FCP, what new technique could I possibly show that would REVOLUTIONIZE
the editing experience for FCP users? What could I do that would
absolutely blow people away? What mind- blowing demo could I
give that would reinforce my rep as the world's #1 FCP maharishi
(that's a few levels above "guru", btw)? What amazing
trick could I reveal that will literally give full-time editors
FOUR EXTRA WEEKS VACATION PER YEAR (but they still get just as
much work done). What could I show that could transform every
editor's approach to the simplest editing tasks, allow them to
finish some projects in HALF THE TIME and CHANGE PEOPLE'S LIVES
FOREVER???
Yes, I am going to reveal my very own
favorite #1 Warpspeed Workflow, called... ummm... well,
I would rather make it a surprise.
Sure, after this meeting, everyone will
rush out and publish this trick on their blogs, some will include
it in their next training DVD or download, and as usual, most
will claim it as their own, but...lafcpug members will always
remember where they saw it first."
7:50PM - 8:30PM - "iMovie 08"
- Randy Ubillos
Randy Ubillos created the
first three versions of Adobe Premiere and then went on to create
Final Cut Pro. Soon after he created Aperture
and now, iMovie
08. So why is a FCP group showing off a consumer app such
as iMovie? Because since the first NLE was launched in the early
1990s, all NLEs since that time have followed a basic concept
and have been, basically the same. iMovie 08 practically re-invents
the basic concept of the NLE and deserves attention. For good
or bad, this is the NLE for the A.D.D generation, the people
who want to do a quick, down and dirty assemblage of their clips
with little more thought than a few drags and clicks. And heck,
we get a chance to hang out with one of the legends of the "Digital
Video Revolution," Randy Ubillos.
8:30PM - 8:55PM -
Break
CalDigit
will be in the lobby showing off their storage solutions. Brad
Wright of VeeScope
Live will be in lobby complete with Green Screen. Lots of
other stuff will be showing off too. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and
greet and get your problems solved. Lots of FCP Gurus come to
lafcpug meetings and this is your chance to network and make
contacts and get your problems solved. Snacks
and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to
the Gallery Theater.
8:55PM - 9:20PM - "Preparing
for Online Distribution" (where can I upload my movie for
money and how do I do the encoding) - Philip Hodgetts
Another legend of the Digital
Video Revolution, Philip
Hodgetts makes an appearance on the lafcpug stage. This time
to talk about onlne distribution of your movie including, should
you host yourself and what are the hosting options for download
and streaming. A mix of big picture overview and useful-now details.
9:25PM - 9:45PM -"Create your own plugins in a matter minutes with
CHV" - Christoph Vonrhein
Christoph Vonrhein, author of the very
popular and useful CHV
Plug-ins for Motion and Final Cut Pro, will show off his
latest plug-in and teach us how to make our own in only minutes.
9:45 - 9:55 - Ken Jaedicke- Show and
