8:55PM - 9:30PM - Sound Design, Editing
and Virtual Katy - John McKay
Sound Editor and Designer, John
McKay who worked on the Academy Award winning films Lord
of the Rings trilogy as sound effects editor and mixer, is flying
in from Wellington, New Zealand to share tips on sound design
and editing. From John:
My presentation will focus on the workflow gains from using a
program like Virtual Katy
applied to the indie filmmaker who is not printing film or is
shooting in HD or DV so cannot use change notes generated
from Avid or FCP. I believe Virtual Katy can offer the indie
filmmaker the way to integrated picture and sound editing to
create truly non linear editing.
9:30PM - 9:40PM - Music Video - Show
and Tell - Ryan Laslofy
From Ryan:
Well, when I booked this show and tell, I did not know that it
would be the last one at what has become our "home"
at the LA film school. None the less I am privileged to show
some of my work on the big screen. My name is Ryan and I am a
student of Larry Jordan's down here in Orange County at Fullerton
College. Last year we had a project that was to make a music
video. As September was right around the corner, I decided to
do a patriotic video on September 11. Remember right after the
attacks? How many flags did you see? How many did you see today?
I have gathered footage from the past few years and compiled
it to remind people of the local reaction here in Fullerton,
hopefully so that they will "Never Forget". Hope you
enjoy.
