***1. NEXT LACPUG MEETING

lacpug Meets are once again sponsored by Blackmagic Design
for all of 2017 and we are grateful.

The next lacpug Meet is Wednesday, January 25.

It will be “I’m Still Not Sure What It Will Be” Night.”
But we are working on agenda right now and should have an
announcement very soon. So mark your calendar.

Happy New Year everyone.

The good news is that Blackmagic Design has once again agreed
to sponsor lacpug for all of 2017. That means we get to stay at
the Gallery Theatre for at least one more year. Yippee! The bad
news is, well there is no bad news.

Keep watching this page for daily updates.

Taped live at the November 2016 lacpug Meet.

Sam Mestman, Patrick Southern and Gergana Angelova walked
us through a brand new narrative workflow built around the
new FCPX 10.3 update and a Lumaforge Jelly Fish. They
demonstrated automated syncing, organization, and renaming,
as well as automated Pro Tools input and Wide color gamut
management for DCP render and delivery.

For the first time in several years, Apple demoed Final Cut Pro
10.3 and allowed themselves to be videotaped. Watch as they
demo the new and impressive features in FCPX 10.3 as well as
share some tips and tricks. Thanks to Noah Kadner and FCPWORKS
for helping make this happen.

Editors Whitney Dunn, Shiran Amir, Renee Barron and Julie 'Bob'
Lombardi covered the life of a Reality TV editor. After watching
this you will walk away with a much better understanding of what
it is you need to know as a reality TV editor. Topics included:
How is Reality different than scripted?
How is logging footage in reality different than doc or feature?
How technical do you have to be?
What software tools do you need to know?
And more.

Premiere Pro stores metadata that helps it determine which files exist
