***4. AMSTERDAM SUPERMEET - WRAP UP

Well, the Seventh Annual Amsterdam SuperMeet, held at the Hotel Krasnapolsky
on Sept 14, 2014 is now in the history books. About 500 people showed up
and, as it always is, was great fun and a great show. Thanks Amsterdam! We
had a blast!

Al Mooney took us on an entertaining tour of the brand new features in Adobe Premiere Pro and the other Creative Cloud video applications.

Award winning colorist Giles Livesy presented the new editorial and grading features of DaVinci Resolve 11. Giles was joined by filmmaker Hasraf Dulull who showed off his new short film, SYNC, which was shot on Blackmagic cameras and graded on DaVinci Resolve.

Audio editing guru Mike Thornton showed us how anyone can perform sonic miracles—transforming flawed audio and inconsistent dialogue into pristine, professional-sounding material using the brand new RX 4 and RX 4 Advanced tools from iZotope.

Atomos CEO Jeromy Young presented his learnings on 4K from the development of the Shogun 4K monitor-recorder & demonstrated the cost effective, post production friendly way to handle 4K.

Patrick Drake and Kylie Flavell who left a successful career to follow their passions and created, produced and hosted 'When Patrick Met Kylie: A Love (of Food) Story,' talked about their unconventional journey and how HP technology enabled their creativity. Patrcik and Kylie were preceded by HP’s Carlo Ruiz who showed off the HP Z Workstations.

And finally our special guests, picture editors Maryann Brandon, ACE and Mary Jo Markey, ACE, editors of 'STAR WARS: EPISODE VII,' took to the SuperMeet stage. They were joined by Avid’s Matt Fuery and talked about their collaboration with directorJ.J. Abrams and the craft of editing by showing before and after scenes they cut from the movies, 'STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS' and 'SUPER 8' - Then we turned all questions over to the audience for a lively discussion.

Rounding out the evening was the crazy World Famous Raffle where we gave
away over €35,000.00 worth of valuable prizes to dozens of lucky winners.
There is no crazier raffle than the one at the Amsterdam SuperMeet.

There are lots of people to thank, especially our sponsors. They were the
ones who paid for this event and we are very grateful to them. We hope you
are too and will support them as they support us.

http://www.supermeet.com/

Special thanks must also go to the following people who worked tirelessly on
behalf of the SuperMeet, and forgive me if I left any of you out. We could not of done this event without you:

Chris Eschweiler, Katie Berube, Dean Cleary, Rick Young, Ben King, Charlotte McCarthy, Trevor Horton, Ben Barden, Gregory Clarke, Josh Long, Pauline Fernandes, Gert Kracht and the students from the SAE institute in Amsterdam. You were all magnificent.

SuperMeets are so much more than what is on stage. More importantly they are
a gatherings of like minded and creative people who make movies on the Mac.
As producers of these events we get a front row center seat and a chance to
hang out and learn from all of you. That alone is why we do these. And
Amsterdam, you could not have been a better host. Thanks for supporting this
event. We can’t wait to do it again in 2015.
