***1. NEXT LACPUG MEETING

lacpug Meets are now sponsored by Blackmagic Design and we are grateful.

Join us Wednesday, September 24, 2014 for another not to be missed lacpug Meet.

It will be Back To School Night, so let's learn something and get inspired.

We welcome the editorial team of Masters of Sex, one of the finest dramas on television today. Two time Emmy nominated editor Fabienne Bouville will be joined by editor Blake Maniquis as well as assistant editors Rebekah Parmer, Gennady Friedman and John Caldwell to talk about, well - How Masters of Sex Does it.

We welcome assistant editor Mike Matzdorff who has worked with FCP X at the Studio level. Mike will show us real-world, battle-tested editorial workflows for picture, sound, vfx, changes and final delivery.

Editor Monica Daniel returns to lacpug to show before and after timelines to demonstrate the creative workflows she used in a feature documentary she edited about the "Scream films." Let's call it "Still Screaming: Cutting a Horror Documentary"

Plus, Stump the Gurus and World Famous Raffle.

***4. “STAR WARS” EDITORS TO APPEAR AT AMSTERDAM SUPERMEET

The agenda is now set for the Amsterdam SuperMeet.

We are very excited to announce that Maryann Brandon, ACE and Mary Jo Markey, ACE, the editors of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, will be our featured keynote speakers at the Amsterdam SuperMeet on Sunday, 14 September!

Both Ms. Brandon and Ms. Markey are best known as long time collaborators
with director J. J. Abrams. The pair has co-edited all of Abrams' feature
films including MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, SUPER 8 and 2009's STAR TREK INTO
DARKNESS. Their latest collaboration with Abrams is STAR WARS: EPISODE VII,
currently shooting in London.

Ms. Markey and Ms. Brandon will both show a before and after scene from STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS and SUPER 8 and we will discuss. There will be time for questions.

The rest of the agenda is posted on teh SuperMeet web site. It is a GOOD one.

Tickets are on sale online only now for the really cheap price of €15,00 Euros each for adults (plus ticket fee) and €10,00 Euros each for Students and Teachers. Buy your tickets now as they will be €20.00 at the door.

This SuperMeet will once again be the largest gathering of Final Cut, Avid,
Adobe, Autodesk and digital filmmakers during IBC week. This is going to be
a great show.

Rounding out the evening will be the seemingly endless World Famous Raffle where we will give away once again, thousands of Euros worth of prizes to dozens of lucky winners. The current value as of this writing is over €35,000.
