ok, heres a blast from the past. i just got a call (yeah 8:30 sat night - welcome to my world!) from a new client who wants to do fully rendered quicktimeVR-ish walkthroughs from autocad files.

anyone have any ideas how to pull this off?
notice it says "download qt5" which tells me this really hasnt been addressed in a while.

can anyone point me to any reources for the current state of such things...???

thanks - wG

Do you mean something like this, Wayne?

I got there from this website:

This is Flash Animation, though, but as far as Virtual Reality, damn!!

;-)

hey deb. thanks, but neither of those links works.

ikea just goes to a blank page and the other just goes to a website, with no indication of a qtvr-ish kinda thing...

Crapatola, I tested it on mine....sheesh, computers, who knew....

In the website page, the section where it says "The Swedes have it"...there's a link that reads "clever flash animation" right in the middle of the page. Is that not there?

I'll look again....

Wayne, I don't know what's wrong. I just copied and pasted both links from my very post and I got there...

Hmmmmm.....very strange!!!!

Anyone have any suggestions?

I use Safari...could it be that?

nope, not what im looking for. im looking for a multi-node 3d walkthrough.
that ikea thing was cool, bit only single node and single axis

You're welcome, Michael!!

The technogeek came across it in his internet travels last week. I saw it briefly out of the corner of my eye and thought it was waaaaayyyyy cool, but didn't think to ask him for the link.

I can't believe I actually found it in under 90 seconds!! Yay, Google!

;-)

is apple still suporting qtVR development tools? i just downloaded a demo of vrworx but it has no documentation, so i have zero idea if it supports autocad files...

this is why i love our business! a never ending voyage of discovery!!

Sure. Everytime they release an ipod or mac there is a QTVR of it on their site. Isn't there stitching in iPhoto or Photoshop CS?

yeah, but as in my original post. what im looking for is multinode creation from autocad files...
thanks deb - as usual, youre a champ! smiling smiley

im gonna look into all of this

Really, this time, it's not me!

Sometimes I ask the technogeek, and he just starts spouting stuff that I type!

Or he tells me to look on this site or that site or another site...

He really makes me look good!

You may try the FBX converter and the QT plug-in from Alias. They are free=)
However, you do need a supported 3D program for import the Autocad file.

For create a multi-node QTVR project, they are always the winner...

But, if you need a fast and easy solution go to here...
