Photo Quality

Hi, I'm running Final Cut HD. I am editing with photos taken by a 7MP camera. When I place a photo into my timeline, it looks absolutely beautiful. However, once the image is rendered, all the quality is lost and it looks exteremely pixelated. Is there a way to improve the quality? How would I get around this.
