Audio issues...

Hi everyone,
I am new to FCS and pro/vid. I am using FCS 5.0.1 on a PBG4/17 1.33 512ram Mac OS 10.4.3 and everything seems to working fine.
My question is regarding the incorporation of audio. I have an MP3 track that I want to use in the video I have prepared. When I listen to the audio file in the viewer everything sounds perfect. However, when I drag the file into the sequence and render it, the sound is terrible. There is a pop almost like a metronome over the entire track. The sound is very poor.
I have adjusted the audio under the User Preferences to high with no change in the quality of the playback. I am not sure what is going on. I hope someone can help.
Thank you.

Mark

FCP hates compressed audio. Use iTunes to convert the mp3 into an aiff file and use that.
