anyone know what the frame offset box is for under system settings/playback control? It's default seems to be 4 frames. Don't know why or what.

To compensate for the delay when using a DV device for your external monitoring.

The tool allows you to set a value which brings the canvas and external monitors into sync.

so it would follow that I can judge this by comparing the both and make an adjustment accordingly. Wonder what would cause differences.
