Playback through MiniDV Camera

Hey everyone I'm trying to export from a sequence to a mini DV tape and when I attempt this, the video on the camera I'm exporting through is all jacked up, dropped frames, slow video, no audio. I just reinstalled my OS, Wiped my drive clean, installed origional system disk then Tiger. If there are certain settings please let me know. If I adjust the playback settings, will that affect the firewire device playback? RT=Safe Playback Video Quality=High Playback Frame Rate=Full.
