Image Stabilizer makes image more shakey

Posted by Adam
Am I not understanding the meaning of the filter, "Image Stabilizer?" I placed it on a a video clip that was sort of shakey just to see what it would do. And the result was an aven shakier image.
I know! I've used it to give stuff camera shake.
Image Stabilizer is useless. For me, it's like saying "My camera guy forgot to take the lens cap off. Can we fix it in post?"
Don't waste your time, go here:

Heh heh, thanks for the link, Gunner...though this is the kind of technology that adds hours to our work time as editors. Now bad cameramen can say "Fix it in post" even more often! Lazy bastards. Let's hope they don't come up with a truly workable focus correction device any time soon, or we'll be staring at out-of-focus shots all day!
They need to give that filter a different name.

I hate shakey cam, even when it's on purpose like in E.R. or TRAFFIC. It's way over done . . I blame MTV. I think it started as an "ART" from 8insert sarcasm* because of exactly what yall have already said. Bad camera men . . so they exagerated their bad camera work and called it "ART" or "STYLE."

Except when you say that you have to draw it out . . "Styyyyyylllee"
