Using Media Mgr for Commercial Finishing

Posted by cdl
does anyone have experience creating pickup transer lists with final cut pro? creating the initial transfer list seems to be easy enough.
1. ctrl+click the sequence
2. select media mgr
3. create offline, delete unused media, no handles, make new project
4. all the shots from the dailies you have used show up in the masterclips bin of the new project.

now let's say you get a new sequence and want to know which shots in this sequence are new in relation the the other sequence. you could drop both sequences into one timeline and remove the duplicate shots, or you could visually compare the masterclips timecode and remove the duplicate shots, but i'm looking for something a little more efficient and accurate. in avid you can decompose the new sequence and relink the shots to the old sequences shots. in that case, the shots that don't relink are your new shots. i've tried using the reconnect media feature of fcp, but clips are reconnected to their source by name, rather than reel # and timecode in/out, if you have 2 parts of the same clip of media in the sequence, fcp won't know which one to link to. any ideas?
