Cutting an Image in the Canvas

i have a photo in fcp that eye did some keying to so that it would become an overlay. thing is what i want to happen is that this image gets cut into 3 pieces and then those partial images float away in different directions ( i can key that action).

q. how do i cut the image in fcp? ( i have no photoshop )

Overlay three versions of the image and cut them to size using either Crop or Mask Shape. Motion each pieces to your liking.
