oy. well, thank you both so much for responding.
here's what happened:
yes, i tried disk warrior, etc -- no problems.
the problem seems to be what derek mentioned.
i couldn't get into the damn sequence, so i couldn't copy it (when i duplicated it, the duplicate sequence also had problems)
so i decide3d it was a corruption of some sort.
do i re-capture ALL the film for the sequence??? oy.....
i decided to get past the general error 34 by doing what you said, derek, kinda.
i went to an archived version of the film, and dragged that sequence (more or less similar to what i had at this point.)
and voila.
once the new sequence was in the timline, everything seemed to jigger back into place.
some of the media seems to need reconnecting -- and it's being difficult, but that's a much more delaable problem.
now if i can only get 10 hours of my life back...
