New iMac G5-firewire

I'm thinking about getting a iMac G5 as an extra system to run FCP and other softwares on. I see in the specs that they have firewire 400 but no 800. I use lacie harddrives with firewire 800. Will I see a change in speed using the 400 connection? Also, why not include a 800 port? Even the PB has one.

Thanks

as to why the iMac doesnt have a FW800 port,
that is a good question.
i dont think there's any real answer.. probably marketing.
maybe they dont want it to be too good, and usurp G5 + Powerbook sales.

anyway, yes, as you'd expect FW400 is about half the speed of FW800.
still ok for working with DV or HDV.

cheers,
nick
