FCP 5 can't see DSR11

G5 dual 2.5. 3meg Ram. 800 gigs storage. Tiger 10.4.3
FCP 5.0.3
Program won't capture....says I have no video device hooked up.

I can OPEN Log & Capture and even run the deck back & forth. FF & Re-wind.

Try to CAPTURE NOW. Same results.

You're capturing both video and audio, yes? Check in the Clip pane of the L&C Window.

You've tried different Capture Presets like FireWire Basic, Firewire?

Have you tried quitting FCP, shutting down, then restarting with the DSR11 deck powered and connected?

Thanks for your response. I appreciated your time.

Further clarification.

DSR 11 powered ON and connected.

Start FCP.

Program responds with the box that says it can't find any FIREWIRE
VIDEO PLAYBACK DEVICE and do I want to "CHECK AGAIN" of "CONTINUE"
(thereby setting playback device to none.) I have to "CONTINUE" to
get the program to load. "CHECK AGAIN" just returns the same message.

Open LOG & CAPTURE.
DSR 11 reponds to PLAY,FF,REWIND fron inside the LOG & CAPTURE window.
If I try to "CAPTURE NOW" program reports there is no VIDEO and MEDIA MANAGER has nothing to process. "Make sure your video device is on and connected" which it is.

I will (as you suggested) go back and try even possible PRESET I can try.


Any further help will, likewise, be greatly appreciated.

I have a BIG project about to start and I am DEAD in the WATER.

I bet it's the upgrade/receipts issue. Good call!

Otherwise, give your FireWire ports a power-down. They do reset.
