You also might wat to expand on your question to get more replies...are you trying to import clips from a Data DVD or RIP encoded ones? I run my DVD player component output through my DAC-2 and capture through the Firewire.

MPEG Streamclip can demux MPEGs with muxed sound and export QuickTime movies from DVDs, but it can't deal with the normal protection methods used by most commercially available DVDs.

oh, but just in case you actually have secured the rights to do so...
mac the ripper will rip about 95% of commercial dvds to your hard drive
