First Time with MULTI CLIP need help please

This is my first time using the multi clip function.
Are there any good tutorials I can watch to walk me threw it from beginning to end, because I keep running into problems.

My latest frustration is its very choppy and will not play smoothly in order to edit.

i have tried a couple of different RT modes and it does not help
all i have are 8 clips on a 9 clip screen

And it keeps freezing any help please.

3.5 gigs of ram
OSX 10.4.3
FCP 5.0.3
