Will a Mini Mac run Final Cut Pro 5.? Just looking for a basic system to run the software.

Thanks,

If you load it up with RAM, and only work with DV. Yes. But don't expect many realtime effects or quick render times.

Bad investment to save money!

I'm working on an HDV/FCP5 project on a Mac Mini. -- It works!

However, my "Big" HD epic project for the year is only 3 minutes long. I have a very patient and understanding client (me), and my completion deadline is "sometime in 2006".

I really like the Mac Mini - to me it's what a computer should be - it's quiet, doesn't take up much room, and it works.

However, if I were working on a "professional" project, where my time on a project had value, either to myself or a client, I'd immediately get a much more powerful machine. The extra couple of grand you'd spend on a serious video editing machine would be paid for in less than a couple of weeks of your time.

the only thing id use a mac mini for is either an admin terminal or as a centerpiece for my livingroom entertainment system.
