OK, if I have Digi Translator in Pro Tools do I need Automatic Duck (or vice versa) in FCP too? Not to sound like a cheapskate, but both these programs are $495 each. I have exported OMF audio from video projects in FCP before to other Pro Tools users, and I believe all they had was the Digi Translator in their systems.

Oh and BTW:

Meery Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa!

Hi,

Depends on what you're trying to do, but generally,
no, you don't need Automatic Duck.

OMF is currently "one-directional" in an FCP work flow:

FCP->OMF->PT->mixed aif->FCP

FCP will export an OMF
DigiTranslator makes that OMF into a PT "session"
Output the resultant mixes as .aif files
import those .aif's into your FCP project and place them in the timeline.
Output to deliver format.

If that's not what you need to do, then all bets are off!

Good luck.

If you want to retain all the levels adjustments in ProTools, then yes, you do need the duck.

Thanks for the replies!

For what I need to do....

No duck is required.
