HELP: missing device.. makes no sense

Posted by Andrew King
G4 powerbook
OSx 10.3.9
fcp 4.5
panasonic dvx100b

pretty confused now...

when i launch fcp i get the prompt poping up telling me my camera isnt turned on or connected when it is.

all of this becomes strange when i can open iMovie and play the footage fine. and most importantly when i go to about this mac > more info there it is under firewire connections
FireWire Bus:

Speed: 800 Mb/sec Speed

AG-DVX100B:

Manufacturer: Panasonic
Model: AG-DVX100B
Unit Spec Id: 41005
Speed: 100 Mb/sec Speed
Unit Software Version: 10001

the computer is totally recognizing the hardware. so why on earth i get a prompt saying my device is not connected when i launch final cut pro is really confusing.

when i go to audio/video settings in the last tab which is a/v devices in the playback output area i have the options NONE and digital cinema desktop preview NOT the apple fire wire ntsc (720x480) which should be there

not to mention when i am in final cut pro with the log and capture window open i can press the controls in the window and it controls my camera as far as play stop etc buttons go. but it says preview disabled... so how it can control my camera but when i launch the program it tells me it doesn't detect a device is making me frustrated

please help.

Did you upgrade to QuickTime 7 recently?
yeah. i did upgrade.

but last night i just removed final cut pro and re installed

works fine now

would the upgrade have messed it up?
