editing HDV as DVCPro HD

If I would use HDVxDV, for example to convert HDV footage to DVCPro HD, won't the frame size (1280 X 1080) be incorrect? When I drag an HDV sequence into a DVCPro HD 1080i sequence in Final Cut, the video gets stretched. How can I go about doing this correctly? I am trying to color correct some HDV footage and do not want to do so in the HDV color space.
