FX1 settings for FCP5?

Hi Everyone,

Can someone offer some help please?

Can anyone let me know what the audio/video settings are for FCP when running a Sony FX1 in HDV mode? I can capture the footage but when I drop it into the timeline it needs to be rendered. As I'm running a G5 dual 2.7, I know this shouldn't be the case.

Also to downconvert, is it simply a case of setting the i-link conv to DV and then exporting the HDV edit as 'print to video'?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Russ

Before you drop anything into the timeline you have to set you sequense to the format that you want. I am assuming you want it to be 1080-60i and you most likely have it set to DV.

You need to go into A/V Settings and make sure that you capture in HDV and then after you edit you must go back and set up the camera to receive HDV as well. The presets must be accurately set. You are going to be doing NTSC 48 hz and firewire must be set to Sony. As I remember you should put the camera in automatic. The A/V settings in FCP5 are important. You have to go to every category and make sure you put in exactly what you want to edit in and what you want to end up in.
