Spin

Aloha One and All,
Can anyone out there please tell me how to make an object spin around a vertical access like a globe or spin a bottle from frnot to back?????

FCP has a Basic 3D filter that -as the name implies- allows some elemental 3D transofrmations. It is cabable of doing what you ask. It's up to you deciding if the implementation quality is good enough.
To apply it, go to Effects > Video Filters > Perspective > Basic 3D.
You need to animate the Y rotation property

I tried a Basic 3D filter to achieve the effect you were describing on a logo for the Grammy Awards, but didn't like the result. So instead, I used Distort to create the perception of spinning by keyframing the Distort's X-axis settings on the four corners to go from 360 to -360 and back (or from -360 to 360 and back). I liked the result better. Only works for spins along vertical or horizontal axes, though.
