rs 422 remote cable

just a silly newbie question:
I recently bought a sdi decklink sdi card for editing Digibeta.

The remote cable: can I use a standard D-Sub 9-pin male/male 1:1 pin layout serial cable to connect the Decklink and the Digibeta?

Or do I have to use a special Sony cable?

You Can....

But you'll need a USB or Modem > Serial Port adapter as well. Don't forget that you'll also need a new device control preset as well.

why that?
i plan to connect the decklink straight to the digibetas rs-422 port. the decklink has a rs-422 port as well. The Mac is not involved directly.

Yes it's a standard old school 9-pin serial cable. Nothing special. But you don't want to get the cheapest one available considering the precision needed.
