RE: Purchasing New FCP system and Recording AudioPosted by Luci Kwak
Hello,
I'm going into production on an HD short in May. I would like to purchase a new FCP system ASAP, however, I've been informed not to buy anything until AFTER NAB. So far I've been quoted for the following system: PM-G5/2.5GHz/QC/4GB DDR2 non ECC SGDeFRoArcMe /7285000GGBT-wSA/2T5A6M/1B6x SSDupAeRrDArMive/NVIDIA GeForce AJA KONA LHe - SD/HD Analog Digital PCIe Card KL-Box LH Optional 1RU External Breakout Box for KONA LH & LKHOeNA LH-Box A/V Cable Kit Altec-Lansing VS4121Speakers & Behringer Audio Mixer Bundle Sony 14" LMD1410 LUMA LCD Professional Video Monitor Viewsonic VA912B 19" Black LCD 1280x1024 Display Apple Final Cut Studio UPG from FC ProMax 2TB External Array SATAMAXe-HD for G5/PC (PCIe) Hitachi Deskstar 250GB SATA150 7200rpm 8mb cache Drive W6fta 9rrpainnt My /M-serial RS-422 cable for DeckLink Card & AJA Io Tripp Lite BC Pro 600 UPS Battery Back Up AC120VA PM-G5/2.5GHz/QC/4GB DDR2 non ECC SGDeFRoArcMe /7285000GGBT-wSA/2T5A6M/1B6x SSDupAeRrDArMive/NVIDIA GeForce AJA KONA LHe - SD/HD Analog Digital PCIe Card KL-Box LH Optional 1RU External Breakout Box for KONA LH & LKHOeNA LH-Box A/V Cable Kit Altec-Lansing VS4121Speakers & Behringer Audio Mixer Bundle Sony 14" LMD1410 LUMA LCD Professional Video Monitor Viewsonic VA912B 19" Black LCD 1280x1024 Display ProMax 2TB External Array SATAMAXe-HD for G5/PC (PCIe) Hitachi Deskstar 250GB SATA150 7200rpm 8mb cache Drive I know that the Quad a fairly new machine, has anyone had any problems with it. i.e. running FCP HD on it? Any other equipment recommendations? Also, Im shooting on a Panasonic Varicam. Ive been told to record audio on a TC Dat and a lock box. However, 2 sound recordist have told me its not necessary to do so. What are your thought about this? I would greatly appreciate your advice on the the two issues above.
that looks like a promax quote! i love those guys, but their quotes are always so convoluted...
i dont know why they would suggest a 19" monitor... thats way out of date. and you'll need two of them. everyone i know who has the new quad is loving it and have not had any problems. as far as the recording audio goes, it kind of depends on what youre shooting and how youre micing it. is it a dialog thing?
if youre buying a turnkey set up from promax, id get an apple 23"
OR many of us on the forum here swear by our dell 24" as far as ive heard most if not all features record to an external device. but i dont know why you couldnt just run your mics into a mixer then feed that stereo out into the camera...
