quicktime movie

How do you compress a quicktime movie in FCP?
My movie is 1h 30mn and when i want to put it on a DVD 4.7 GB, it won't fit because the movie is 17 GB.

A playable DVD in a DVD player, or do you want to back up the raw file?

For a playable DVD, you need to author the DVD with iDVD or DVD SP, and dragging it onto the DVD isn't the way to do it. If this is what you want, then you need to read the manuals on these applications.

What I do is:
1. mixdown the audio
2. make a "self contained" QT mov
3. drop the QT mov into "Compressor" to make ts files and a dolby sound file. This also allows control over quality and file size.
4. OR import the QTmov into iDVD or DVDSP and let the program do the compression. However, the compression will be CBR and allow only 90 min or less.
