image size on canvas in HD project

hi there,

I m a little desperate because i can't find out what I am doing
wrong. maybe you can help me.
I am editing some stuff we shot on HD I compressed it to DV-Pal to
edit in FCP...and i don't know why some of the tapes are coming out
in a strange way on the canvas.

For example they are shown in 46% on the viewer but then when I get
them into the timeline the canvas shows it in 72 % which then does
not fit into my 3:4 frame ( titlesave).
Any clue why this happens?
because it is not with all tapes I batchcaptured.
May it be from the recording, the capturing or just a simple trick in
the project itsself?

So, your project is set to DV-PAL and the viewer and canvas are set to -Fit to Fill? Sounds like you are saying that some of the HD downconverted to DV tapes do work correctly in the windows?

Could be the downconvert process. What was it?

What are your Sequence Settings? Barring a mistake in the display size (see John Foley's post above), this sounds like a Capture Setting/Sequence Setting mismatch to me. Check the Motion tab of the clips you put into the timeline. Any aberrations in the numbers?
