dropped frames

Hey LAFCPUG,
I have finished a one hour documentary and during playback, there are two instances where I get drop frames. I put it over to a dvd and it looked fine, but is there a solution to this issue. Could I simply fix it by re-editing a newer pice of vid over the old?
Very curous
Thanks,

do you mean there are frames with dropouts on them?

you can "paint them out" using a plugin from digital heaven (only $10!)

or do you mean there are sections that never play smoothly in FCP, or going out to tape?

those shots might just be on a "bad" part of the drive, or more likely be split over more than one part: fragmented
re-captureing the shot can help.
moving the file to another drive and connecting to that can help, too.
both ways give you a new file on a new, hopefull better part of the drive.

If the DVD is fine, that means the drop-out is not on the media itself. Did you try a tape output?

Even with self-contained movie files, when outputting to tape you still need to perform an Audio Mixdown on it for optimal playback.

Yeah. If it's always in the same place, you have a damaged clip or bad frame or something like that. If the problem wanders, then you have classic live playback stuttering frames and this may help:

A low of those tricks still work (I gotta update that thing).
