Trouble capturing XL-2 footage

So we shot something last weekend with my friend's XL-2. I told him to shoot standard 30 frames but somehow he missed something and shot it 24p. I've tried digitizing from an DSR-45 but when I do, the video looks jumpy, and spotty. I tried the advanced pulldown option for capturing and it looks the same. Is there a way to capture off my DSR-45 or do I need the camera?
