importing omf files

it's a music video a friend of mine started on avid xpress. he exported it as OMF files and burned THEM on 2 dvd's. how do i open these files from FCP(hd)?

This is not possible in FCP, use ProTools instead,or try exporting as AIFF.

Final Cut Pro can export OMFs, but it doesn't import them.

The reason why is because FCP isn't an audio editing tool. OMFs are for digital audio workstations. Final Cut is not a DAW, it's an NLE.

It makes sense that it can export them, but there's really no reason for it to import them.

oh, there's lots of reasons to import them,
but that doesn't mean you can

& OMFs aren't just for audio.
i'd say the one we're talking about here is a video one.

anyway, you;ll have to start over with this one, as FCP cant import OMFs

look at the Automatic Duck's line of products for moving between avid & FCP,
and look at Sebsky Tools, too.
