Glowing text?

Glowing text?

Is there a filter or setting in FCP5.1 for glowing text? I want to do a 'simple' effect like making the text grow and glow and then fade back to normal size and the glow stops.
I know, basic stuff, but I can't seem to find a glow feature anywhere. Seems like there would be one.

Sorry for the lame post.

Thanks for the help.

Use Livetype. It does that. As does Motion, but Livetype is easier to pick up right away.

Ooorrr.. lets see.. make a copy of the text in white, put it on a layer above the text layer and make it a bit smaller than the layer below so it can't be seen around the edges. Then ramp the opacity/blur to get an animated glow.

Or there is a method for making a spotlight wash across the text, which you can use with lowered opacity and hand animation. Or use composite modes to mix in a bought one.

Or, yeah, use Livetype or Motion and save youself an hour's work smiling smiley

LiveType for easy.
