Can't see FCP on External Monitor

Hello everyone,

I haven't been here in a while and I have a real basic problem. I changed my deck and my external monitor, now I can not view my clips in FCP on the external monitor. Maybe I need to set the deck up somehow?

FCP 4.5
Sony GV-D1000 Deck
Sony 14 inch monitor PVM 14N6U

FCP Audo/Video setting is at:
Video Playback -- Apple firewire NTSC 720 X 480
Audo Playback -- Firewire DV

When I have a tape in the deck, I can log and capture into FCP and see the clip being captured on my computer monitor (FCP), my deck (GV-D1000) and the 14 in Sony external monitor (PVM 14N6U).

But when I play the clip back in FCP, I can see it in FCP but both the deck and external monitor stay on the "blue" screen.

Please help. I hope it's a simple "duh?!" fix!

First thing to check is that External Video is set to All Frames. APPLE-F12 is the shortcut; if you need to see it, go to View - External Video.

well, thanks derek. this saved my butt as well.

the thing i can't figure out - i've been using FCP for years now; never, ever changed that setting, and all of a sudden it got turned off. definitely threw me, had me thinking there was something wrong with firewire or my setup.
