Removing advanced pulldown during capture.

Hello, I'm using the latest version of FCP with a 1.25GHz Mac running the most recent OS, and I'd been trying to remove the 2:3:3:2 pull-down from some 24p miniDV footage during the capture over firewire. I was using the right device-control setting, capture setting (NTSC-DV 48kHz Advanced Pulldown Removal), etc., but as soon as it was captured it would always remain 29.97 fps. I was able to remove the pulldown later by going to Tools > Remove Advanced Pulldown, but I'd still love to know why the first option didn't work. Ideas?
