Hard Drive HotelPosted by J.Corbett
i would love to have a 1tb external hard drive but as i here they are quite expensive. now i dont mind mildly expensive if it gets me more dependability so i am looking at 500g though that probly will only be full in about 3-4 months.
what do you guys recomend as being reliable (2 or three brands)? is it possible to get a dependable 1tb system without having to sacrifice my first born child? Is a Firewire drive dependable? Yes, until you have a problem! You failed to mention the systems you are going to be using. Does it need to be Firewire or is it that it will be simpler than a Serial ATA drive set?
Let me answer the question for you and others who post here: Wayne :: ProMax, ProMax, ProMax! Jude (and others) G-Raid, G-Raid, G-Raid John OWC (www.macsales.com)

I got a SATA harddrive hotel from [www.MacGurus.com]
You can also put FW drives in it. They sell the Tower, cables, external connectors. So you can buy SATA drives and cables/connectors, FW drives and cables/connectors, USB 2 etc. Then I got a 4-port SATA card for the G5. Independent photographer, film maker and Producer. In the wonderful UK.
I got 2x5 bay SATA towers burly boxes
already had one controller card fail and my sonet card for my G5 was DOA am not trilled about the controller card as I had to break my raid apart, down to half speed (was getting 300 MB's) and only have 2.3 TB to work with now take it for what you will David at Movies Rock in Toronto [www.tofcpug.com]
