hey guys

i have about 15 hours of footage shot with the HVX in DVCpro HD 720p60
with a vid rate of 23.93

Once i have imported the P2 cards the video still has the extra frames.

What is the best way to get the 2:3,3:2 pulldown done to all the footage at once.

i have tried media manager but no luck, and i cant afford to render everything in one sequence.

Also, are they any import(capture) setting for the P2 import?

thanks for the help
J

If you shot with a vid rate of 23.98, you would have shot 720p24 24PN. N stands for Native. If you shot 720p60 then you have a video rate of 59.94. Just chose the 720p60 in your Easy Setups and you should be good to go.

I beleive to remove the pulldown you need to use the DVCPRO HD Frame Rate Converter (on the FCP install disk, extras folder), but I am not sure how. I only know how to get it to do slow motion.

We did shoot 720p24 24N.

But, isn't the way DVCPRO HD works is that it still shoots 720p60, then converts?

My D.P. was explaining it somewhat that way, but i didn't understand that was case if we were still shoot 24PN.

Here are my sequence settings, now this is the only way i can bring in the footage to the timeline w/o have to render. ( the extra frames are still there)

shouldn't there be a way to bring these in w/o have to render.

If at first you don't succeed, keep ****ing it up 'till it works!

If you shot 720p24 24PN onto a P2 card, it shot exactly 24fps, running at 23.98. It didn't shoot 60fps, and there is no pulldown to remove. If you shot with the Varicam, yes, there would be. And if you shot to the firestore it would shoot 60fps, as 24PN is not available for that device.

If you shot 24PN, and you choose the 720p24 Easy Setup, then things should be fine, and you shouldn't need to render. If you still have to render, then it wasn't shot 24PN. Look at the framerate of the clips and see if they are 23.98 or 59.94.
