Making a moving map?

I want to import an image of a map into FCE then add a line that moves across the map describing the route taken in the documentary. Ideally I'd like the map image to be able to move as well to make it more dynamic.

Any suggestions as to the best way to do this would be appreciated - application required, technique etc.

Easily done in After Effects with an animated stroke over a drawn spline. You can even transform it in - Z and give it a drop shadow and animate a 3D camera to give it depth.

That is a good option. Better than the $10,000 Map software we have that does the same thing....plus a LOT more.

After Effects is perfect for that.
