Abrupt fading images

Anyone come accross this? I have looked through the archive but couldn't find anything.

I have an image that I want to fade onto the screen in the upper left corner....
I have it set to fade on to the screen slowly, but at the last part of the fading, when the image becomes 100% full...the image 'pops' abrubtly on the screen.
How can I keep the gradual fade until it is finished fading all the way up to the finished image?

Use Opacity Keyframes, not a transition.
