wicked check this maxtor hard drivePosted by chaar
Hi guys. I'm considering getting this hard drive. It's external (portable), stores a lot of space, and i can set up a RAID which means i won't have anymore dropped frames when i play HD video back on FCP.
I'm working on HD now for all time btw. [www.maxtorsolutions.com] the 600 GB one would cost me about $900 singapore dollars here. I'm a noob at such things. so what do you guys thiNK? Cost-wise vs value?
It's funny when I was at NAB I was talking to Matt Klinke from Lacie and one of his customers came up and spoke to us and he had something like 800 Lacie drives in various forms and factors and has only about 3 fail. Most of my drives at this time are Western Digital and some are Seagates but my Lacie SATA drive is over a year old and works great.
>>> k. but guys, like don't they make all drives the same these days? Just the brand name is different? <<<
If that's the case...then why ask for preferences? I don't use & recommend Seagate drives because I think the name is COOL. I have used different RAID schemes with Seagate Barracudas & Cheetahs in them for 10 years...never went down. I lost a Maxtor drive & a LaCie D2 (maxtor internals) within one year of purchase. I do not have time for those odds. - Joey When life gives you dilemmas...make dilemmanade.
