Setup Info

Just throwing this out there, what would I need to play 2 HD Streams realtime in FCP and output realtime HD to an external (TV) monitor?

I am looking at KONA / AJA, but know that there about five thousand other companies out there.

I am also thinking about getting a quad Mac Pro when they come out, depending on their reliability. Any thoughts there? See [www.appleinsider.com] for expected specs, if that would help at all.

2 "real" HD streams of 200+ MB/sec? XServe RAID or some other Fiber Channel RAID with 4Gbps throughput.

There are really only two major companies out there. AJA and BlackMagic. The KONA 3 card in a Quad G5 would be a fine combination or one of the HD cards from BlackMagic. ??QuadMacPro?? not shipping - no information. How long will it take the capture card companies to write drivers for the Intel Mac Pro is unknown.

While you can monitor in RT with a fast RAID, I'd still render prior to output.
