HELP Anyone. 4 gig Quicktime limitation?

I've been trying to render a 9688 frame file out of Shake for use with FCP. (720x480) I'm using Quicktime and Apple None setting for the codec. (Trying to make a DVD and would rather apply the compression in DVDSPRO.)

When the files size exceeds 4 gig, the render continues to click away, but I notice the filesize of the written file drops from 4 gigs to 192 KB and never updates from there. This only accounts for a about 3300 frames.

Is there a 4 gig limitation for QT?

Is that way when exporting to QT from FCP, that there are a ton of files, each with the extension -av1, -av2, -av3, etc all the way up to 12. Including the .mov file which won't play without the other 12 (-avN) files in the same directory.?

Your help is much appreciated.

Your hard drive is not formatted Mac OS extended...it is most likely formatted Fat32 (which has a 2GB limit) or some other PC format. PC formats have file size limits, where the Mac formatting doesn't.

Format the drive MacOS extended and you won't have this problem.
