Saving to External Drive

Sorry if this has been covered in multitudes...I want to clear my 250 GB media drive for a new movie. I have about 8 various folders including my FCP doc's folder on it (which obviously contains my media, render and such files.etc.). What is the best way to save all the folders from my media drive to my 160GB Promax Ext. Drive? Right click on each folder and either archive or copy it to the external? Should I then format my media drive after all is transferred? Please advise... and thanks again!

Drag and drop. Drag all the files you want to save onto the new drive.

Question: Is the other project done? Then why keep the timecoded footage (captured tapes)?

Yes the project is done so I want to archive it to the Ext. drive. Also,
Wouldn't i be better off using the media manager to move files from drive to drive as not to break the links between project files and media?

NO worries. Just copy over and when you open the project again, just re-link.

I rarely trust the Media Manager with anything. Not the most solid part of FCP.
