earthquake shakePosted by rmanciero
<<<Is there a way to simulate a earthquake type shake in Final Cut?>>>
That would be rough since most time, you can't see an earthquake shake. I put little metal brackets with loose chains hanging down in several rooms of the house so I could tell if the room was actually moving. I got the idea from watching the hanging lamp in the dining room move. Trying to do it after the fact always looks terrible. What people usually do is cut to a tight shot of a small table and a glass vibrating and falling off. Everything else is done with sound effects and tight, quick shots. If you didn't plan for any of that ahead of time, the best you're going to get is Ernie Kovaks style shaking the camera comedy.. Anything you do with key framing and shaking the whole picture is going to leave space and black ribbons at the sides of the picture, so you'll have to zoom as well, which will give you sharpness problems. Shoot it again with the shaking built into the script as a practical effect. Koz

Thats what the "tiler" filter in After Effects is for. Even though it only mirrors and replicates the footage you cant tell if you shake it violently with some motion blur. I'm putting together that AEP project now. If anyone else wants it let me know. Johan Polhem Motion Graphics www.johanpolhem.com
