using FCP HD 4.5 on MacBook (non-pro)?

It seems the MacBooks (non-pro) were not built so that users could use FCP. The MacBook needs an AGP card.

Does anyone know of any way around this? I am getting an absolute no from Apple, and no's from other forums.

Thanks,

j. damron (severely disappointed with Apple- my little iBook ran FCP wonderfully)

Your Macbook has Intel chips inside and FCP4.5 was only ever written for PowerPC chips. The only FCP that might run on your MacBook would be the 5.1.1 Universal (Intel/PowerPC) version.
It might run under Rosetta but I somehow doubt it would be all that stable.

Shane's Stock Answer #29

You either need to either:

1) use the following hack -

or

2) Upgrade to FCP 5

I'm using 5.1.1 on a Mac Book. What aspect are you having a problem with?

I have FCP HD 4.5. A prompt tells me I need the AGP card. I suppose I can
try the 5.1.1 upgrade for my MacBook (non-pro). I have been advised that the crossgrade works but not without flaws.
Yours is a non-pro? If so, that is good news. Although I wonder if the upgrade will work as yours does?

thanks,

j.
