Flashing Red Light

Hello one and all,
I'd like to simulate looking through a video camera by having a flashing red light or "REC" with possibly even a matrix in the center. How can I do this in FCP 5.1?

Yep, there is, but it looks pretty cheesy. Last time I had to make this effect, I made my own video frame and center cross in Photoshop, added the red light myself. It would help sell the effect immensely if you also add a running timecode meter and other onscreen displays like the battery icon, recording mode (LP/SP), and an exposure meter.

i know there's a set of plugins you can get for FCP that will simulate various viewfinder looks,
but i cant remember the name right now...
anyone?

CGM Vol. 3 "Handycam" is pretty cool.
