capture problem using firewire/formatting?
March 29, 2006 06:47AM
Hello, I have a G-4 mirror dual, running FCP 4 for the last few years, bought a new external firewire drive- Lacie 250 gb (porsche thing) firewire 400- on everything-I tried to capture standard DV with it for the first time and my 'capture now' window freezes up, had to force quit every time . Never used an external drive for FCP . Do I have to format/partition the drive ? Or are external FW drives simply not qualified to do this.- When I unplug it, 'capture now' works perfect onto internal drives
Thanks- Rodrigo

Yes, you need to format it. Use Disk Utility and reformat the drive as mac os extended (not journaled).

Yes, especially deceiving is the minimal " Porsche'' designed graphic illustration packing with these lacie jobs. Design at the expense of clarity.- R
