Is this [accessories.us.dell.com] the Dell monitor that people are using in lieu of the cinema displays? T'would be a fair home bound companion to a MBP 15" mayhaps?

Yeah, although mine doesn't have that space age looking stand. But yeah, its the same display. It is wicked cool and you cant beat that price and it plugs into everything including a toaster.

Thanx Mike.
Do you connect yours to a laptop? via miniDVI or whatever?
Where do you download drivers for your toaster? Can it handle dark rye and/or crumpets?

I dont use it with a laptop but it has DVI and VGA and 145 other I/Os including a neat WI output for connecting to a waffle iron.

the DELL can also pivot 90 degrees, which is cool,
but maybe not much use with FCP. (until you get a gig doing a times square video or something)

i use a 23" with my laptop at home.
it;s great way to work.

Just some funny note on this monitor.

For some reason a had a look at the german Dell site this morning - and whow there was a special rebate on the 24" model down from 899 to 674.25 Euro. I instantly clicked the buy button and came to the checkout which told me:

Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 899,00 ?
- 25 % Rebate -449.50 ?
Grand Total 1.348,50 ?

That's the coolest math I'd ever seen in an online shop. I would buy even 2 of them if the stated rebate would really apply.
Got no answer from Dell yet.

Regards
Andreas

Jeeze and i thought my maths was bad.

Hold on i just had a look at the Uk site and look at this dell monitor

27" Wide screen? £879.00 apparently ( or i guess -25% rebate - ?100 - $1500)

Interesting thing about that web link to the monitor - it calls it both "2407FPW" and "2407WFP".

I just bought one, it will arrive any day (!!!) and on the day I ordered it (1/26) its list price was $749 and it had a 10% "Dell Home Customer" discount, making it $674.10 plus tax (free shipping). Timing, apparently, is everything.

Hold on - I just checked the link I bought it from and it's still $749 less discount, same SKU but got to it from a little bit different path. Can you tell if there is any difference?

Andrew,

On Mike H's recommendation, I picked up the Dell 2405FPW a while back ($718 on ebay) and I love it. It is a PERFECT companion to my sony SDM-S73 17" monitor and my Kona LH allows for a 3rd NTSC right in the Display Prefs. Amazing. TONS of screen real estate.

I can't get good quality going component in to my Dell with my Kona LH...looks all pixelated.
